Today we’re announcing official support for the WordPress Multilingual CMS (WPML) plugin.

When adding support for multiple languages to your WordPress site, there are a few choices available to you. One of the most popular by-far is the WPML plugin.

This plugin is widely used and easily considered one of the most popular options available.

With it being so popular, we really wanted to add support for it within our Shield PRO plugin.

What Exactly Is Supported With Shield and WPML?

If you’re unfamiliar with this topic, we strongly suggest you take a read of this article, that explains the problem we’re solving.

In summary, since WPML is a premium-only plugin, we don’t have access to the source files in order to know what the original code looks like.

If we don’t know what their code looks like, and one of the files is tampered with, or there’s code that appears to be malware, we have no way of knowing for sure how the file should look.

Is it malware, or has the file been changed with malicious intent? The only way to know is to have access to the original files to compare with.

And this is exactly what WPML has granted us.

For all the latest WPML releases, Shield can now check file contents on your WordPress sites against the original files.

ShieldPRO can then make far smarter security decisions about your site and better decide whether you need to be notified of a problem. If there’s nothing to worry about, then Shield wont interrupt you with notifications and you can get on with more important work.

What Other Premium Plugins Does ShieldPRO Support?

So far we’ve announced official support for several plugins:

We have a few more in the pipeline but we’ll announce those just as soon as they’re integrated and ready for prime time.

As you may be able to see, adding these plugins is a slow process and requires the cooperation of premium plugin developers. Our hope is that the more that come onboard, the more that will want to.

If you want to see your favourite plugin or theme join the list, please reach out to their support and direct them this way, letting them know you want them to integrate with us.
