ShieldPRO 21.2 brings two major milestones for the plugin: full translation into nearly 40 languages, and a powerful new search system for your Activity and Traffic Logs. We’ve also redesigned our security report emails, upgraded the dashboard charts, and delivered a raft of performance and UI improvements across the board.
Read on to discover all our new features and enhancements.
#1 Translation Into Nearly 40 Languages
One of the most requested features over the years has been proper internationalisation of the plugin. With this release, we’ve completed translation of Shield Security into nearly 40 languages.
We’ve also hugely improved translation coverage so that practically all text in the plugin can now be translated. Whether you’re managing WordPress sites in German, Japanese, Portuguese, or any of the other supported languages, Shield should now feel much more natural to work with.
Our translations were built using our own in-house AI Translations system. We’re confident in the quality, but with nearly 40 languages there may be some errors here and there — so please do let us know if you spot anything that doesn’t read quite right.
On-Demand Language Downloads
Rather than shipping all translation files with the plugin (which would significantly bloat the plugin size), Shield now downloads translations on-demand. When a translation is available for your locale, you’ll be notified within the plugin and the download happens automatically.
This keeps the plugin lean while still delivering full multilingual support. It’s a much smarter approach and one we’re pleased to have landed.
#2 Powerful New Search For Activity & Traffic Logs
If you’ve been managing a busy site with Shield, you’ll know that the Activity Log and Traffic Log can accumulate a lot of data. Finding what you need in that data hasn’t always been straightforward.
That changes with this release. We’ve added powerful new search capabilities to both the Activity Log and Traffic Log tables. You now have:
- Free-text search — search across all log entries naturally.
- Targeted filters — search by IP address, username, email, user ID, event description, and metadata values.
- Search syntax help — a built-in help panel guides you through the available search options (for example
ip:anduser_id:) so you don’t have to memorise anything.
The goal here is simple: your security data should be usable, not just available. Being able to quickly drill down to a specific IP address or user across thousands of log entries makes a real difference when you’re investigating an issue or responding to an incident.
On top of the search improvements, we’ve also optimised the underlying database queries so that both log tables load significantly faster than before.
#3 Redesigned Security Report Emails
Our security report emails have been completely redesigned for improved clarity and a more professional presentation. If you’ve been using Shield’s reporting features, you’ll notice the difference immediately.
The new reports include richer inline statistics and more detailed scan data, with key sections now including up to 20 relevant results. This means you’re getting a much better snapshot of your site’s security posture directly in your inbox, without needing to log into the plugin.
We’ve also improved the report creation flow with better form validation and cleaner date-picker styling, making it easier to generate custom reports on-demand.
One small but welcome quality-of-life improvement: the report email logic has been updated to avoid sending redundant informational emails when an alert email is already being sent. Less noise, more signal.
#4 Dashboard & UI Improvements
We’ve made a number of improvements across the plugin’s interface that, taken together, make Shield feel noticeably more polished and responsive.
- Upgraded dashboard charts — improved performance and visuals for the charts on your Shield dashboard.
- Reduced CSS bundle size — faster page loads across all Shield admin screens.
- Responsive sidebar navigation — better usability on smaller screens and narrower browser windows.
- Syntax highlighting — when viewing file content from scan results, you now get proper syntax highlighting making it much easier to review code.
- Native WordPress notice styling — WP Admin dashboard notices from Shield now use native WordPress styling for a clearer and more consistent experience alongside the rest of your dashboard.
- Improved admin notifications — mandatory notices now remain visible until action is taken, so important alerts don’t slip through the cracks.
These are the kinds of improvements that individually seem small, but collectively they make the day-to-day experience of using the plugin considerably better.
#5 Other Important Changes
We’ve added the following changes to this release.
- SilentCAPTCHA for Paid Memberships Pro — bot detection is now available for Paid Memberships Pro checkout forms, helping protect your membership site from automated abuse.
- Automatic cleanup of orphaned malware records — Shield now automatically cleans up malware scan records when the associated files no longer exist on disk. This keeps your scan results accurate and clutter-free.
- Improved plugin redirect handling — Shield now attempts to locate the originating plugin page and redirect appropriately wherever possible, reducing those frustrating moments where you end up somewhere unexpected.
- Improved upgrade reliability — we’ve improved the upgrade path from older plugin versions to reduce update errors, particularly for sites that may have skipped a few releases.
- Reduced plugin overhead during self-upgrades — to prevent potential errors during the upgrade process itself.
- Fixed Email 2FA auto-login redirection — the redirect after email-based two-factor authentication now works correctly.
- Fixed Security Admin session handling — ensures the current response is correctly set as sec admin when disabling Security Admin, and login works properly after a manual session end.
For further details on all changes, we recommend reviewing the Upgrade Guide that accompanies this release (as for all major releases).
