ShieldPRO 15.1 for WordPress is primarily a maintenance release.

Our previous version, 15.0, brought in a huge number of changes in many areas and so we needed to a bit of house cleaning to remove old code and fix a few other outstanding bugs.

That said though, we’ve brought a number of enhancements to this release that we’re sure you’ll like!

#1 Super Fast File Scanning – 66% Faster!

Our WordPress malware and plugin/theme file scanning engine has gone through a number of enhancements over the years. In our latest scanning engine we found that the processing could be a little slow.

This was a product of how we arranged items in the scan and the way in which large filesystems must be broken up into “chunks” in order to process them on the more restrictive web hosts.

But, we’ve been able to engineer some optimisations which should see file scanning times reduced by up to 66%.

We tested scanning on large websites by adjusting a few parameters and also implementing a form of “scan caching” to reduce unnecessary and repeated file scans. We were able to optimise a scan that took over 3 minutes to under 1 minute.

This sort of optimisation means quicker scans and a much lighter load on our servers since fewer resources are being deployed to execute the WordPress scans.

#2 HappyForms Integrations

For a long while now we’ve had AntiBot integrations will most of the major Contact Form plugins for WordPress. A recent request that’s been sent to us from a couple of customers is for a similar integration for HappyForms.

We’re happy to announce full support of HappyForms in this release, meaning that you can automatically block SPAM submissions for all your HappyForms using Shield’s AntiBot Detection Engine.

Our full list of Integrations now includes:

  • Contact Form 7
  • Elementor Pro
  • Fluent Forms
  • Formidable Forms
  • Forminator
  • Gravity Forms
  • Groundhogg
  • HappyForms
  • Kali Forms
  • Ninja Forms
  • Super Forms
  • Support Candy
  • wpForo
  • WPForms

If your WordPress forms plugin isn’t on the list and you’re bombarded with SPAM, we really suggest reaching out to us to see if we can put in an integration for you asap.

#3 Other Fixes and Enhancements

As we already mentioned, we did a lot of cleaning in follow-up to our previous release. But we’ve also added the following:

  • More reliable White Labelling so that settings are more consistently applied throughout
  • Automatic Database Repair – when Shield detect that not all the database tables are present or created successfully, it’ll offer you the option to rebuild them
  • Improved Visitor IP Detection – automatically detecting the correct visitor IP address isn’t an exact science, but having the correct visitor IP is core to Shield’s functionality. We’ve made further improvements in trying to detect the correct IP
